“I am a painter and doctor, father and lover, wounded and healed, divorced and loved, broken and whole, alone and together. As a technical painter with a love of risk and creation, I combine my fascination for the Renaissance and Japanese Masters with graffiti, drag queens and neon lights. As a doctor, I get to see a special side of Amsterdam in the emergency department. The rough city life and the human drama. The bizarre, strange and sometimes very comical stories. In between moments of connection, love and humour. My paintings are frozen moments, porcelain atmospheres from paint, wood, paper, graffiti and lacquer. Delicate layers of paint alternate, polished shards and Delft Blue fragments with colorful details that merge into a dynamic, contrasting whole. They mirror our bizarre world with all its fragility.”
