Stéphanie Leblon (b. 1970, Ypres, Belgium) holds a degree in Monumental Art/Painting from Sint- Lukas Hogeschool in Ghent and a postgraduate degree from the Higher Institute for Fine Arts (HISK). Encompassing wall sculptures, works on paper, and paintings, Leblon’s multidisciplinary practice explores the materiality of flowers through the interplay of light, gesture, and texture. Blurred transparencies and layered compositions establish visual rhythms that challenge the boundaries of perception. We ask ourselves: how does light reveal tactile form? How can a photographic image transcend its static origins? Leblon’s practice reveals a curiosity for how materials shape perceptions, creating works that bridge abstraction and narrative. Through her repeated motif of a flower, Leblon blends its materiality into symbolic resonance, as its earthly landscape dissipates into meditative abstractions — echoing the layered narratives explored in A Rose is a Rose is a Rose.
Leblon’s notable exhibitions include GROWFLOW (2023) and “BRAINBLOSSOM” (2022) at Art Gallery De Wael 15 and “FADING” (2009) at the Musée d’Ixelles in Brussels.
