As a Dutch-American artist, I have exhibited my work in the Netherlands, Ireland, and the U.S. In 2004, I returned to Europe, traveling and painting in Italy, France, and the Netherlands, focusing on plein-air landscape art. In 2014, I received a lifelong fellowship from the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland, where the oceanic landscape continues to inspire, influencing my observation, expression, and abstraction of beauty and the sublime.

Nature inspires me. When I paint outdoors, I take in all its visual and sensory stimuli, much like a surfer immersed in the energetic transference of a wave.
Painting on location can be unpredictable, but when successful, a piece captures all the freshness of the moment while still retaining my complete vision. I strive to create work that demonstrates both keen observation and bold abstraction.
Ultimately, working outside in the open air allows me to fully experience the awe-inspiring reality of our world and record it through the materiality of the paint.
