Katleen Vinck is a Belgian (Bornem, °76) artist based in Antwerp, Belgium.
Katleen Vinck's sculptural work has its origins in her extreme fascination with architecture. Architectural foundations are often the last, imperishable remnants of long-lost civilisations. What Katleen Vinck wants to show is not the loss, but the beauty of what is temporary. Her work is futuristic rather than post-apocalyptic, with everything changing over time into something new. The sculptures are rarely finished constructions or singular monuments, but rather appeal to a translucent, elusive moment of transformation.
Her work and training as a scenographer mean that Katleen Vinck has many contacts with artists from other disciplines. She has a good relationship with choreographer Marc Vanrunxt, with whom she has worked for quite some time and realised several performances. Their first collaboration took place in 2013. The result Dune Street Project, is a performance that was performed in an installation by Katleen Vinck. Furthermore, she participated with her artworks in several Belgian and International exhibitions, including Art Rotterdam on several occasions.
