Jenny Owens is an Irish artist who has lived in or near Barcelona since 2007. Her artistic practice explores how the acts of seeing, remembering, dreaming and narrating are connected and the role of the intangible in these processes. She constructs non-linear stories through fragmentation and layering, and registers images of reality with special framing, montage and temporality devices that distort their perception to allow new meanings to filter through them. Her work also explores the relationship between space and images, and ways to transform and translate images into physical objects.
Her artistic research analyses the role of memory in creative processes and ways of connecting words and images to offer new readings of both.
Jenny started her studies in Fine Art in 2008 at The University of Barcelona and completed her PhD in Advanced Studies in Artistic Production in 2021.
Her art is influenced by nature, her native culture, day-to-day life in Spain and her travels as well as the work of a wide variety of artists, writers, filmmakers and psychologists.
Her artistic research analyses the role of memory in creative processes and ways of connecting words and images to offer new readings of both.

November 2018: Participation in the workshop Architecture as a Model: Scales, Experience and Action within the Conference Shared Prototypes Collaborative Artistic Experiences. The Faculty of Fine Art, The University of Barcelona. I presented “Intimate Distances”, a collaborative project with Brazilian-based Graphic Designer Fernando Lima. Through the use of 3D printing, the project explores how art allows us to interconnect places and eliminate their physical distance.
