Filip Cleynen (he/him) is an Antwerp and Berlin based Belgian visual artist, mainly focusing on questioning experience and perception. His work deals with notions such as tension, absence, invisibility, emptiness and juxtaposition.
He draws inspiration from architecture's meticulous set of rules, with an interest in spatial, serial, industrial and abstract work. As a former architect, he is looking for a balance but without the physical constraints.
Even more, he is looking for a balance as a human being. Like a cell constantly renewing itself in order to survive, the perpetual homeostasis. Transforming his personal experiences and reflections, feelings and memories into art that tries to set foot where there is no ground.
