Marieke Bolhuis works intuitively, in continuation of her interest in emotions, psychic states, awareness. In a constant dialogue with shape and material, she thinks through doing. In her sculptural, installative works and her earlyday paintings, human figures seem to relate to external structures.

Marieke Bolhuis (The Netherlands, 1962) graduated from the school of Art and Industrial Design in Enschede and studied at the Rijksacademie Amsterdam. She participated in exhibitions internationally, among many other at Artist Space W139 in Amsterdam, Watou Arts Festival, Club Solo Breda, Art Rotterdam, Art Basel Miami.
