The art critic Jaak Fontier called Rubens the antipode of lyricism. Any form of representation is eliminated and only lines and planes without any form of subject remain. The serial aspect of his oeuvre and the thinking that precedes it incline Rubens’s efforts to conceptual art and to the ideas of François Morellet, with whom Rubens maintained a friendship. Albert Rubens’ art is a thoughtful universe of purely geometric experiences.
