Through the different media of collage, unconventional printing tools, misplaced common objects, atypical artwork editions, public interventions and photography I attempt to respond and depict the idiosyncratic transformations that I witness in the landscape and the culture that surround me.
Having lived in five different countries, escaped the Bosnian war and, as a result, now speaking four different languages on a daily basis, my minded is much more attuned to focus on those small details that hover in between spaces. Those seemingly unimportant elements suspended at the margins build the visual and formal narrative of my practice: observing, mapping and understanding lines, borders, text flourish, along with the way information is structured and designed are the core aspects that keep my attention alive.
The process of making artworks is in itself dual and constantly swinging between obsession and breaking the barriers: a deliberate intuition sets the mechanism in motion but the compulsive quality questions its validity, since (re)creating a new visual language is an arduous task that opens new perspectives over a restructured reality.
This reality takes the shape of collages, sculptures made of composite objects and monoprints that are closer to paintings in their making process than to an easily reproducible medium. After ten years of creating, this very process is still transforming and redefining itself because its very nature demands unparalleled flexibility.

Miroslav Cukovic (born in 1982 in Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia) completed his BFA with honors
at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, USA. After 10 years in Detroit, he moved to Maribor, Slovenia and
later on in 2013 to Austria.
Cukovic has exhibited his works both in USA and Europe with shows at the International Center for Graphic
Arts, Ljubljana, Slovenia, Survey of Slovenian Printmaking at the same institution, Garden Shed in Stuttgart
am Neckar, Germany, Layerjeva Hisa, Kranj Slovenia, No Regerets-International Summit of Laser Graphics at the
Kuenstlerhaus, Wien, and most recenty at the Alumni Hall in College for Creative Studies, USA.
Cukovic has executed number of public projects & interventions including among others “Maribor’s Milky Way”,
which has been funded as part of the official Maribor 2012, European Capital of Culture programme.
