In the scripture notation project, Annesas Appel (1978, Amsterdam) takes us along in her research into the visual properties of the letters of the alphabet. She arranges the letters on various external characteristics and works towards a different order of the alphabet. She combines the found data to create an abstract image per letter.
The project consists of a box with 23 "scripts" and 2 prints in which you can follow her successive steps and two series of 26 prints each on which she embroidered the details of the data by hand.
