Hieke Luik in Focus presents a series of bronze sculptures and watercolours in which nature and its constant transformations take centre stage. Through an organic visual language and an intuitive working process, Hieke Luik explores themes of growth, movement, blossoming and decay.
By combining bronze with natural materials such as alabaster, Luik creates contemplative works in which strength and vulnerability exist in harmonious balance. The watercolours complement the sculptures seamlessly, reinforcing the poetic quality of her visual language.
Alongside Hieke Luik's work, the exhibition also features several highlights from the gallery's collection, including new Dragers/Carriers by Frank Halmans. These spatial compositions combine physical supports—such as floors, pillars and chalk-primed painting panels—with remnants of dismantled artworks from the artist's own practice: former carriers of meaning that are reconfigured into new sculptural narratives.
