Cape Town Art Fair – Solo, Echoes of Humanity
On invitation of Céline Seror, independent curator SOLO section Investec Cape Town Art Fair, Livingstone Gallery The Hague-Berlin was invited to participate in the curated section of the fair dedicated to monographic presentations.
This edition's theme, "Echoes of Humanity," brings together artists who understand listening as a relational and transformative act. Through sound, image, memory, and gesture, their work invites us to inhabit the in-between -- where perception shifts and deeper forms of connection become possible.
Raquel Maulwurf - New Visions on Humanity
Raquel Maulwurf’s work deals not only with the destruction of our surroundings by war, but also our world’s chaos when hit by the forces of nature and ecological disasters. She explores the notion of whether nature is striking back at us for polluting its oceans, poisoning its air, burning down forests and turning the ground we walk on into radioactive wasteland.
Investec Cape Town Art Fair is the largest and leading international art fair on the African continent, bringing together a diverse group of celebrated exhibitors, including prominent galleries from around the world, to showcase contemporary art, like Galerie EIGEN + ART (Berlin and Leipzig, Germany), Double V Gallery (Marseille and Paris, France) and Galleria Giovanni Bonelli (Milan, Italy).
This years participation from the Netherlands are Ellen de Bruijne Projects (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Galerie Caroline O'Breen (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Livingstone Gallery (The Hague, Netherlands and Berlin, Germany), No Man’s Art Gallery (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Stevenson (Cape Town, Johannesburg and Amsterdam).
Cape Town Art Fair will show a total of 126 exhibitors from 22 cities, including 34 new exhibitors making their debut in Cape Town. This year also marks the largest presence of galleries from cities new to the fair, including Andorra la Vella, Douala, Lugo, Lusaka, Marseille, Palermo, Santiago de Compostela, Stockholm and The Hague for the first time in the fair history.
