Jóhanna Kristbjörg Sigurðardóttir takes you on a journey of exploration into artistic language and communication. Together with fellow artists, she explores how meaning and context arise within artistic practice and what role communication plays within an exhibition.
For her exhibition, Icelandic artist Jóhanna Kristbjörg Sigurðardóttir invited colleagues Steingrímur Eyfjörð and Sigtryggur Berg Sigmarsson. The project builds on her research into artistic language, dialogue and communication within art.
It focuses on questions about how meaning is formed and shared: how much information is needed to create a coherent image? And where does communication take place within an exhibition?
Jóhanna has been living in Belgium for more than fourteen years and is using this project to explore the dialogue between the Icelandic and Belgian art contexts. She is creating new works that will be presented alongside those of Steingrímur and Sigtryggur, exploring cultural and geographical influences on her practice.
