Curated by Nick Ervinck, SCULPTURAL II brings together six distinctive artists who approach sculpture as a vital part of their practice:
Caspar Berger, Willem Boel, Folkert De Jong, Joke Raes, Anne Wenzel, and Ervinck himself.
“These are artists I admire, whose work I have followed for years, or with whom I feel an artistic kinship. This exhibition does not aim for uniformity. On the contrary, I sought out tension and contrast – but with a shared seriousness and belief in the potential of sculpture.” – Nick Ervinck.

SUMMER IN MIDDELKERKE
Spending time at the Belgian coast this summer? From 1 July to 31 August, SCULPTURAL II will also be on view at K.E.R.K. in Middelkerke. This coastal edition reimagines the exhibition in a dramatically different architectural context – a former church with a powerful spatial presence.
“K.E.R.K. is not a white cube, but a former church that we now treat as a kind of temple for sculpture,” says Ervinck. “The space breathes history and spirituality, which naturally lends the works a different context. I intentionally leave room to breathe. Sculpture must be able to breathe. The interplay between object, space, and light is essential.”
This dual presentation is a deliberate curatorial strategy, designed to reach both the casual passerby and the seasoned art lover and, as Ervinck emphasizes, also to engage potential collectors. It reflects his strong belief in the value of cross-pollination between audiences and settings, enriching the experience for all.
