An ode to Klaus Baumgärtner
June 21 through July 20, 2025
On the occasion of the solo exhibition Simple Things - Ode to the Everyday by Klaus Baumgärtner in the projects gallery of the Kunstmuseum Den Haag (until August 10), Galerie Ramakers pays a special tribute to this poetic and idiosyncratic artist.
The exhibition An Ode to Klaus Baumgärtner opens on Saturday, June 21, and will be on view through July 20, 2025.
This exhibition takes a personal look at Baumgärtner's work and his ability to give new meaning to the everyday. Twigs, wooden blocks, newspaper clippings, pencils, erasers and cans - seemingly banal objects - become visual poetry in his hands. His work is hushed, apt and rhythmic, without explanation or embellishment. Central is the art of combining: the subtle play of form, line, texture and mutual relationship.
Galerie Ramakers not only shows sculptures and collages by Klaus Baumgärtner himself, but also brings together work by artists who admire him and feel akin to his visual language.
With contributions by:
- Mat van der Heijden - drawings
- Reinoud Oudshoorn - sculptures
- Pietertje van Splunter - recent paintings
- Michel Hoogervorst - recent paintings
- Warffemius - new works on paper
Together, these artists offer a richly layered ode to Baumgärtner and his ability to make the beauty of the ordinary tangible.
