In May, Project 2.0 / Gallery presents UNRAVEL, a group exhibition of work by Eric Hirdes, Marjolein van Haasteren and Mariëtte van der Ven.
In Unravel, three artists meet in their search for meaning, form and imagination. Through painting or sculpture they unravel - in their own unique way - the world around them, revealing new connections. Instead of simple answers, they present layered images that question, seduce and unsettle.
Eric Hirdes has been exploring the boundaries of lyrical abstract painting for over thirty years. His work is a constant play between control and release, between matter and mystery. Paint is built up layer upon layer, until the work begins to speak its own poetic language. Each painting is a journey of discovery - inward and outward, towards spiritual landscapes in which space and silence are central.
Marjolein van Haasteren paints landscapes that move on the border of dream and reality. With organic forms and muted colors, she evokes worlds that seem familiar, but do not really exist. Her work depicts a landscape as it could have been, and invites reflection on our relationship to nature - between control and surrender, between what disappears and what remains.
Mariëtte van der Ven uses clay and porcelain to represent the human figure. Not in its perfect likeness, but as a carrier of stories and emotions. Her work touches on themes such as vulnerability, connection with nature, and the fragile balance between man and earth. Her sculptures are refined and charged; each image is a tangible statement, intimate and raw at the same time.
Unravel invites the viewer to unravel - to peel off layers slowly, with attention, and allow themselves to be drawn into worlds that feel at once familiar and alienating. An exhibition that does not explain, but questions. Where looking becomes a form of feeling.
The exhibition opens with a Meet & Greet on Saturday, May 17, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the presence of the three artists. Join us then and take the opportunity to chat to these artists about their work, while enjoying a glass of fine wine and some magnificent art.
