Yves Malfliet concretizes never before presented work, of the last two years, in his solo show “CONVOI EXCEPTIONNEL” and ... exceptional it may be called. With in his imagination “The Greatest Show on Earth” he presents his mini version in Gallery Sofie Van den Bussche in Brussels. New eclectic ideas, clever compositions and amazement all around. Sometimes alienating, sometimes confronting, a laugh and a tear, emotion and emotion for those who are open to feel and experience it. His work may be consumed and experienced.
Sometimes it is difficult to find a common thread in the work of Yves Malfliet. Yves remains true to his approach where he incorporates existing porcelain ready-mades into his clay work . Sometimes the intervention with the existing element is small, other times the “figurine” comes to the fore and dominates the work . His work is in constant evolution, in which an important new element is that his porcelain ready-mades are worked with fire cement and/or packed with a mass of clay, referring to lava, meteorites, in which the idea of camouflaging, packing and hiding becomes an important item. His ceramic “circus” continues to fascinate: blue dogs worked with fire cement, maritime landscapes with crab or lighthouse, dancing teacups, sacred families, Gaston's cannon and so much more beauty pass in review....
