For NAP+, we present new paintings by Antonietta Peeters.
Her paintings at first seem to have only desire but no motif. Hollow and convex shapes mirror themselves along a vertical centre axis. You feel the power of tension, the pulling of seams. The action becomes the motif. Painting is done in many layers on top of each other, delicate colours, thin and translucent. Warm colours shine through cool layers of paint.
Antonietta Peeters was a resident at De Ateliers in Amsterdam. Her work has been exhibited in Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven, Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht, Museum Boymans Van Beuningen Rotterdam, Gemeentemuseum The Hague, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam , Club Solo in Breda and Museum Kunstpalast in Germany, among others. Her work is in several public and private collections, including those of Stedelijk Musuem Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht and the Caldic Collection.
