Inner thoughts
Large canvases of transparent cotton, drawn on with graphite, are floating in the space. The exhibition shows a nude portrait of a huddled figure, whose emotion is tangible. The piece is equally modest as it is distinct, and highly personal in nature. Looking closely at Lise Sore's work can truly be an overwhelming experience.
Lise Sore creates autobiographical work in which the viewer becomes part of extremely vulnerable experiences. The enormous self portraits arise after emotional moments have been recorded. Sore then studies these images closely before turning them into hyper-realistic drawings in which the viewer accompanies her on this emotional journey. Memories and their influence on identity play a crucial role in her work. What part do they play in experiencing and creating your own surroundings? As a result of these themes and questions, Sore's work becomes larger than just a portrait and creates space for the surrounding scenes as well.
