Kristof De Clercq is pleased to announce Vicken Parsons' (b. 1957, UK) third solo exhibition with the gallery. For 'The Blue', Parsons returns to Ghent with a series of recent oil paintings on panel.
Vicken Parsons on 'The Blue':
"Space and time are inextricably linked – I use time to make space.
As world events become increasingly chaotic and alarming my mind is rarely still. My response, or need, is to open up space within a painting. To make a place where my mind and perhaps the minds of others can dwell.
On entering the studio, I sense a change in me, my breathing slows. As I look at yesterday’s work, put the kettle on, don my apron and absorb the effect of other works around the studio I start to think about colour."
Vicken Parsons' work is held in a number of important collections including the Tate collection, Belvedere Museum collection, UK Government Art Collection, Arts Council Collection, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art's collection, the Jerwood Foundation, and Museum Voorlinden (The Netherlands).
