Albert Pepermans collects « images » on his smartphone while travelling or wandering.
Back in his studio, the digitised documents, translated into B/W, deconstructed/reconstructed, are printed on transparent Rhodoïd film or on the back of plexiglas plates.
Pepermans then chooses a single colour and creates a series of 5 monochrome paintings on wooden panels, playing with the effects of materials and transparency. 5 surfaces of identical colour, each with its own originality, on which he positions and fixes the printed plexiglas plates in formats identical to the painted panels, rediscovering the brilliance of screens.
In the Journal Brut series, experimental photographic images are magnified and combined with painted backgrounds. A mixture of pigment and marble powder strengthen the images. They represent fortuitous moments in time, which do not relate to one another.
