In ‘MINI-EXHIBITIONS ON DEMAND 3’ we especially bring the following artists to your attention: Andrea Rádai, Marena Seeling, Eddy Stikkelorum, Terry Thompson, Wanda Tuerlinckx, Cees van Rutten, Helen Vergouwen, Coen Vernooij.
The past year in which covid-19 limited the room for maneuver for many people has also had an influence on artists as is apparent from the visual work of Marena Seeling. In recent paintings and wall panels she paints with white colours suggesting broad light spaces, enabling you to experience a space without actually having to travel. Coen Vernooij adds a title to his 'untitled' works. He calls this series 'over the edge'. It is about uncertainty and the damage to the edge. Helen Vergouwen's 'confiné', made during the lockdown in her studio in France, where she has no possibility to weld, is not made from her favorite material Corten steel, but pieces of wood. Terry Thompson goes back to his 'Vesalius’ series, but includes abstract pieces in them. Eddy Stikkelorum's new work has the telling title 'Locked by Emptiness'. And does Andrea Rádai already have ideas about what happens after the lockdown in her 'Crowd XVI'? She says: As long as the lid remains on, one can rearrange it at will. Ignore it, shift it or move it really seriously. But when the lid comes off, the accumulated power spurts out.
