From 20 February to April 18 2021, Galerie Ramakers presents the duo exhibition "Whats on" with small recent sculptures by André Kruysen and a new series of works by Ton van Kints.
A number of years ago, Ton van Kints started to combine existing works into a vertical stack, called the 1+1 series. He regarded these works as unfinished chapters that were literally screwed together and given a cover of epoxy lacquer.
A most recent development was influenced by his experiences as a beekeeper. Swarm cells are placed at the bottom of the stacks. In such a cell, a new queen develops and can swarm with the bee population to establish a new colony. In the view of Van Kints, the works now have the possibility to swarm out and transform again. Galerie Ramakers is pleased to be the first to show this new series "1 + 1 meets bees" here in the gallery.
In the past year André Kruysen has created a large sculpture entitled Inner Vision. It is a contemporary answer to the lost work of the futurist Umberto Boccioni called Testa+Casa+Luce. In his work, he focuses on the light that comes from within us; on those moments of clarity where things, even if only momentarily, seem to be connected. In the course of the creation process of Inner Vision, which took several years, Kruysen made a number of small-scale sculptures that can be seen as preliminary studies or variations on the same theme. They are the small-scale works which are shown in this duoshow.
