At this edition of Art Rotterdam, we will be showing new work by 3 of our artists.
Luis Xertu had his first solo exhibition at TORCH in March 2020 after winning the Audience Price during the Royal Award for Painting in 2019. His new work will be presented as an installation on three separate walls. Luis works with real plants, which he glues onto the painted canvas, with which he refers to themes such as time and constant change.
TINKEBELL. has made photos and other works that are part of an ongoing series about the aftermath of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan. She has been going to Japan for many years and now for the first time uses photography. The photos were taken in the Red Zone and are printed
on pieces of wood, found in the Red Zone, using a specific Japanese method.
In her newest series of paintings, called 'Is This Real', Anya Janssen looks at the new generation: her own students at the art classes she teaches. They are getting ready, preparing themselves for the coming fall. They go full force, they revolt, but there’s also angst, Weltschmerz, not knowing.
