At BIG ART no 5 Karin van Dam (1959) shows the work Lichen. Lichen is a moss that grows in circles on rocks in northern countries. Karin van Dam developed the work in the Textile Museum Tilburg, The Netherlands. It is knitted in a special technique with monofilement (nylon) and wool. The structure of the fabric has an almost technological look, creating a tension in the work between the organic overlapping circles and the high-tech appearance of the material.
