For this year's edition of Art Rotterdam, we will present a spectacular combination of the silent subtle light compositions of Popel Coumou with the bold colorful torn wallpaper paintings of Erik de Bree. Both abstract and working with lines and gradients. Where Popel calculates everything with most precision, Erik leaves it up to chance what the end result will be.
To counter the abstract works of these two artists, we will show a few iconic self-portraits of Philip Akkerman. Of all the styles he has painted in, we have selected a baroque selection, to emphasize the painterly and detailed character as a contrast to the abstract planes of Popel and Erik.
We have two more works, that stand on their own. Thijs Zweers choose a new path, his dark jungle drawings now combined with neon lightning.
We will have an air conditioner in our stand, but made of marble by Casper Braat.
