Double Solo Show: STEFANO CAIMI vs LEONARDO ULIAN
Our duo booth at Art Rotterdam 2025 is based on the dialogue between the works of two Italian artists both already presented in previous editions: Stefano Caimi (1991, Lecco) and Leonardo Ulian (1974 Udine).
The topic addressed concerns the Anthropocene and is about the relationship of man with Technology, Nature and Science.
Stefano Caimi operates a scientific analysis of trees, plants and flowers. Applying the fotogrammetry on them, he extrapolates data that he subsequently processes through a software specially designed by him: the artist fixes, in single-run prints, the intrinsic essence, the lifeblood and the intimate secret of the plant world.
Leonardo Ulian instead uses electronic parts, transistors and microchips to compose through his sophisticated skill as a , very elaborate arabesques that sometimes contain figurations such as the Vitruvian man of Leonardo da Vinci (symbol of humanism) and at the same time recall the spiritual Tibetan mandalas. Ulian thus addresses and combines the themes of Knowledge and technological obsolescence but at the same time hypothesizes not without fear the birth of a new technocratic religion.
