Berg Gallery
Booth A7 | Rotterdam Ahoy
For Art Rotterdam 2025, Berg Gallery presents a curated selection of works from five contemporary, mid-career artists, each engaging with the themes of form, materiality, and cultural symbolism through their distinct mediums. Featured artists include painters Andreas Glad (Sweden, b. 1976), Hendrik Zimmer (Germany, b. 1973), and Daniel EKTA Götesson (Sweden, b. 1978), sculptor Carl Richard Söderström (Sweden, b. 1960), and textile artist Inger Bergström (Sweden, b. 1959).
Hendrik Zimmer’s large-format woodcuts stand out for their geometric precision and bold color palette, with imprints of handmade woodblocks assembling into abstract, energetic compositions. Inger Bergström’s textile works, while similarly abstract, explore geometry and form through a patchwork technique, merging vintage fabrics with futuristic elements.
Carl Richard Söderström’s ceramic sculptures draw inspiration from nature, ancestral belief systems and horror imagery, evoking both organic forms and mythological creatures. In contrast, Andreas Glad offers realistic depictions of everyday life, juxtaposed with surreal miniature landscapes, creating a tension between belonging and estrangement. Lastly, Daniel EKTA Götesson’s dynamic paintings and collages, rooted in graffiti and urban art, express a raw energy and a cryptic visual language filled with archaic symbols.
