This summer, Livingstone Gallery is celebrating the ten-year anniversary of Livingstone Projects Berlin, a studio and exhibition space where, over the past decade, various artists have been given the opportunity to work and present their art.
The resulting works were exhibited on-site in the project space and/or traveled to a second venue: the gallery in The Hague, a museum or an art fair. The exhibition 'BACK TO BERLIN', on view at Livingstone Gallery in The Hague until September 21, showcases the artworks created by the participating artists.
In the spring of 2014, Raquel Maulwurf was the first to kick off the pilot project with a residency in the former studio of Albrecht Genin in Prenzlauer Berg. Her time there culminated in the solo exhibition ‘Colliding Galaxies.’ In 2017, the Livingstone Projects Berlin Prize was awarded for the first time to Ruri Matsumoto. This biennial prize, which includes a two-month residency, a catalogue and an exhibition, is organised in collaboration with a guest curator and Jeroen Dijkstra of Livingstone Gallery. The most recent artist to work in the project space was Lotte van Lieshout.
