Children of the Light is the collaboration of Amsterdam-based visual artists Christopher Gabriel (1980, Oslo) and Arnout Hulskamp (1978, Amsterdam).
In their practice as Children of the Light, they tend to both entrance and mystify the public, creating abstract and highly spherical scenographies and installations. In controlled and often immersive environments, light becomes the main character, inviting the spectator for a dialogue. In their spatial works, they treat their primary subject as something tactile, and aspire to provoke immediate physical sensation.
Recently they have exhibited at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Oude Kerk, TodaysArt, Day for Night, Nuit Blanche, STRP Biënnale, Wuzhen Triënnale, Salone del Mobile, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the New Institute Rotterdam.
They also collaborate with musicians and artists including Philip Glass, Darkside, Nicolas Jaar, Huerco S., and Alexander Whitley Dance Company, among others.
Children of the Light are frequent guest teachers at institutions like the Academy for Architecture and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy.
