Maxime Favre 1991

Lives in Amsterdam. Works in Amsterdam.

Maxime Favre (Geneva, 1991) lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam he has continued developing a series of paintings which draw their motives from processes of decay and subsequent rebirth, where mutation or decomposition of matter shows fragments of illusive realities. Through bodily, internal scenarios nature is reinterpreted as if digested, or observed from a corporeal point of view. Volatile elements coagulate into landscapes, inhabited by ambiguous beings who borrow features from botany, anatomy and geology. By textures that simultaneously construct and dissolve themselves the language of abstraction enters in friction with that of representation.
