Tom van Veen (1995) graduated from AKI ArtEZ in Enschede in 2019 and currently lives and works in Amsterdam. Van Veen is a multidisciplinary artist. As such, he creates performances, texts, sculptural work and sets. But mainly he is a painter. Recurring themes are contemporary youth culture and interconnectedness in traditions such as dance. Van Veen's paintings, all made in oil paint, depict young people, just beginning a movement or freezing in the action.
He has exhibited at various venues such as the Royal Palace Amsterdam (as a nominee for the Koninklijke Prijs voor Vrije Schilderkunst 2019), Centraal Museum and has collaborated with Museum Boijmans & Van Beuningen X The New Originals. He has also published articles in Mister Motley Magazine. Van Veen's work will be shown in upcoming exhibitions at Centraal Museum in Utrecht, Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam, the HEM in Zaandam and Unfair Amsterdam.
