JAAP KRONEMAN, Untitled, 1995
This work is now more than 25 years old, but still timeless. Why is that?
Jaap Kroneman has been working on reducing images that he sees around him for decades. The openness with which he looks and records things is evocative, witty and often sharply seen. Simple images from reality are flattened by partially stripping them of their 3D reality. He is not a minimalist, not a radical painter, nor does his work belong to fundamental painting. He is an artist that crushes reality. He is therefore called the founder of Flat Art in the small circle of Galerie van Gelder. KvG
