In Stadttheater, a woman sits on a puppet show manipulating a marionet.
In the background is town hall with a blossoming chestnut tree and on the left a church and house with a stork on top of the roof. In the foreground are objects that belong in an interior: a table lamp and a flower vase on a rug. As often with Andrea Freckmann inside and outside are mixed together. In Stadttheater the stage, in this case the puppet thaatre, is the main subject. After this painting, Andrea Freckmann begins to study the tradition of the Commedia dell'Arte, which produces a series of paintings that focus specifically on the theatrical.
