KIMBALL GUNNAR HOLTH
Why don’t you paint like that anymore, 2020
signed, dated, numbered
In 2019 Kimball Gunnar Holth took part in Big Art 2019 in Amsterdam. He showed three roughly painted boxes that were held together by a tarpaulin. Next to it were a number of plastic buckets with the text 'Why don't you paint like that anymore'. Earlier he had used such a bucket for a performance during the opening of the group exhibition 'Slaap Lekker Studio' at Galerie van Gelder. This bucket was also part of a floor sculpture and performance at Art Rotterdam 2020.
Kimball Gunnar Holth often searches for the edges of painting in his work. Where does it start? When using oil paint on canvas, a brush, a paint tube or can you also paint on an old shower tile?
A few more copies are still for sale.
