For the 2020 Lockdown Happy New Year Show Jan Hoek chose sixty photos from the series Sistaaz of the Castle and printed these on ceramic tiles measuring 15 x 15 cm and are signed by Jan. With the proceeds of this project Jan, Duran and the Sistaaz want to realise a long cherished dream: a fashion show in Cape Town. So when you purchase this work, you contribute to fulfilling their wish, entirely within the Christmas spirit! The tiles cost €50,- each. Send us an email if you would like to purchase a tile. We will festively wrap it for you.

The project Sistaaz of the Castle is a collaboration between Jan Hoek (1984), Duran Lantink (1987) and SistaazHood, an organisation for transsexual sex workers in Cape Town, South Africa. The Sistaaz are powerful activists - proud to be trans, proud of their work and even more proud of their great sense of style. Together they created a series of photos and a fashion collection based on the Sistaaz' looks and their ability to turn everything they find into the most exuberant outfits. So far, this has resulted in an activist fashion show during Amsterdam Fashion Week, a photo exhibition at Foam, and a publication.
