This photograph is an interpretation of an Orixa {pronounced: Orisha} of the forest. Orixas are spirits in the pantheon of the Brazilian belief system of Candomble. The following text is of a legend that describes his importance and responsibility regarding leaves and the secret knowledge that they keep. Many indigenous cultures and belief systems highly regard plants and trees and seek to extract the secret knowledge imbedded in the foliage.
