In her series of ‘Paintings’ Isabelle Wenzel is even more focussed on her body that performs as a subject and an object at the same time. She becomes a body, without rhetorics, ethics and without history, dissolved in colour and shape. Her main focus is still observable: the image of the female body depicted in the mass media. She researches this topic by constructing and deconstructing her own body and in performative moments she uses photography to make that body into an image. Isabelle Wenzel develops herself at incredible speed because her work adapts to her surroundings.
